GENERAL
The Public Works Department consists of a Wastewater Treatment Plant and a Facility Building. The Department employs 15 employees including the Public Works Director, Wastewater Plant Director, Maintenance Supervisor, and Administrative Assistant.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
The purpose of the Wastewater Treatment Plant is to treat and maintain the City’s sewer system to protect the community and the environment from harmful and toxic elements.

Our plant is maintained 7 days a week. We have two plant operators and two plant operator apprentices that operate the plant to ensure that it operates with no problems.

Duties performed under Wastewater:
  • Unstop sewer stoppage 
  • Respond to work orders initiated by the Public for any wastewater concerns 
  • Locate sewer lines
  • Provide samples of sludge to the Laboratory to verify compliance with State and Federal requirements  
  • Maintain dry beds of sludge and dispose of it accordingly
  • Perform treatment of wastewater collected to meet permit requirements

MAINTENANCE
The purpose of the Maintenance Department is to maintain and repair City streets, City right of ways, street signs, drainage systems, and City facilities.

Duties performed under the Maintenance Department: 
  • Patch potholes
  • Resurface streets
  • Repair and replace street signs.
  • Respond to Work orders initiated by the Public
  • Mow/weed eat all City right-of-way and City properties

RECYCLING
The City has mobile recycling bins which are taken out of the local areas in the community on a quarterly schedule.
